@miiko Kyllä. Elisalla taisi olla 5€ kun viimeksi näin tuo SIMin vaihto, ihan sama onko se uuteen fyysiseen tai eSIMiin. Se on ollut Elisalla vuosia ärsytyksen kohde kun eSIMia ei ole saanut aiemmin siirrettyä laitteesta toiseen, tosin tuo rajoitus on sittemmin poistunut.

@ErikDerBezwinger I'll look again, but in general the point releases make no changes to the database and if they're required, it's listed under the important things in the release notes.This was a case of 8.1 to 8.1.2 update, which typically is just minor fixes and no new features.

Apparently #netflix support team has no concept of unactivated account that someone constantly attempts to create. Someone in Finland is using one of my private addresses to register a new Netflix account. It's a real Netflix account creation e-mail and since it shows the device name, it's very clear it's from a Finnish user too.I wrote Netflix about this since it's been getting old and their answer was that they can not locate an account with that e-mail. Surely they can't as I'm not stupid enough to activate the account that obviously wasn't created by me. It seems they can not block this activity.

I swear dealing with complaints to big companies goes something like this:I call them. No one answers, the recording tells to send them an e-mail or fill some form.No one ever replies to the e-mail or form.I give them a 1 star review. I'm almost instantly contacted by a customer service rep, whose mandate is to get me take that review down.#ranting #dystopia

@GamesMissed As someome who went from DOS to Linux, proprietary support was always questionable at best. There were earlier web cam chat programs such as Netmeet before, but Skype was the first truly universal and even the video calls worked beautifully. This was the sole reason I got to talk face to face with a lot of foreign friends for the first time after having known them for years.The sad thing is how everything is so fragmented now. To talk with all the people I need to stay in contact with I have to have like 4 different messengers. Each of them suck in their own unique way and they all are a pain for someone who'd have the completely impossible expectation to have a cellphone, desktop and laptop with the same messenger and have them all stay in sync without constant re-logins and other bullshit. Like Skype did.

@COMPU73E It's not that much better on the open source side of the fence. It's not really doing anything fun, just repetitive, high stress, more-for-less, with thinner margina and higher stakes. There's not even a memory of anything fun left.I don't mind hosting practically every aspect of my online life with my homelab stuff, but even that is more of because someone else would sell me the same thing except with even less care put into it.
