I've seen countless people who need "accessibility" functionality say they don't need accessibility and/or are not disabled or neurodivergent.
We cannot understand the need for accessibility just by listening to those who understand what it is.
The need for accessibility is infinite
I disdain accessibility "modes"
Segmented experiences are indicators of poor design + a lack of understanding about accessibility
Accessibility is product infrastructure.
Even if the "mode" offers additional functionality, the label alone obscures meaning for many users who need accessibility.
RFK Jr was on a podcast saying he used to snort cocaine off toilet seats.
Meanwhile, I’m worried I don’t come across as professional enough if I use too many exclamation points in an email.
I’m learning that my partner is sneaky and gets gifts for me when I say I do not need them.
And even worse, they’re good gifts and I end up liking them.
The audacity, how am I supposed to win the relationship when I’m competing with this??

The close of this project feels a little bittersweet.
We shipped sooner than I expected, as ownership shifted away from my team.
Still, we made sure this work went live and it will continue on.
That matters. It’s a win, especially in a moment where DEIA is being reduced systemically.

A few things we did with this redesign/rebuilt that I am most excited about:
- Light, dark, and high-contrast modes
- Flexible grid/list layouts
- Accessible web-based content (with listening options + PDFs)
- Clear navigation and scalable content structure

I’ve followed Microsoft Inclusive Design since 2015. It fundamentally changed how I understand design.
The new experience was built through co-design with disabled and neurodivergent collaborators, with a focus on adaptability, usability, and real-world inclusion.
