This is exactly the groundwork we need to be laying right now, and I’m delighted to hear it coming from a US Senator (!):

If Trump tries to prevent a fair election from happening, then we need “a true national strike in the sense that, if they do this, if they try to overthrow our democracy, if you are allied with democracy, do not go to work . If you’re a pilot, do not show up. If you drive a train, do not show up. If you’re a teacher, do not show up. We grind the country to a halt.”

‘Grind the country to a halt’: Democrat urges national strike if Trump meddles in midterms

In wake of Donald Trump’s call for Republicans to ‘take over’ voting, senator Ruben Gallego urges citizens to take a stand and give the ‘ultimate response’

@ginger_tosser @inthehands i would be thrilled for may day to be the start of an indefinite general strike, in solidarity globally against the morbidly wealthy to; arrest netanyahu and bring all collaborators of the palestinian genocide to justice while supporting the palestinian people in self governance; bring the epstein collaborators to justice; impeach the current u.s. president and cabinet; abolish i.c.e. and hold trials for all violence; end u.s. slave labor (remove the 13th amendment exclusion); hold shareholders personally financially and criminally responsible for corporate products and behaviors; end stock ownership of any kind by elected representatives; medicare for all with congress and constituents sharing the same coverage; end for profit healthcare; require residential housing ownership be limited to residents (max of three years between owner occupancy); and well whatever else folks demand these are just mine to start.

but if we start juneteenth or independence day or labor day... let's go.

@ginger_tosser @melioristicmarie @inthehands then Labor Day is actually a great deadline. The first three are warnings; three strikes and we're out. Everything stops on Labor Day and doesn't restart.

          @GhostOnTheHalfShell
One of the lessons of Jan 23 is that “ASAP” is not a plan. You really have to pick something specific in the future — a data, or a trigger — and do sustained planning around it.

@inthehands @GhostOnTheHalfShell We don't have to warn them when we're going to pull the plug, just that we're going to do so.

Let them decide how anxious it makes them to sit with the uncertainty.

@inthehands don't wait to do that... Do it now. I've been saying this for a year already.

Last time during the civil rights movement, it took just 11 million people... Imagine if 50 million went on strike.

Just know that they will try to break it, they will murder people on the streets and they will use it to justify further fascist ideals.

Strike and don't stop until the govt falls.

@inthehands @Anomnomnomaly National Stay at Home Day (emergency personnel exempt).

I really like having it on May Day, because it would get all those old anti-communist buggers' knickers in a real twist. We could even sing Billy Bragg's version of "The Internationale," to really piss them off.

It seems like only yesterday that I was screaming at Sen. Gallego for voting for Trump cabinet nominees.

Yup. A lot of replies are missing the point that we have to •prepare• now in order for this to happen months in the future. People want the whole collective consciousness to suddenly turn on a dime. Groundwork!!

This part is especially important (emphasis added):

“If we have to destroy the stock market to save democracy, we need to accept that and, more importantly, •••the richest and the most powerful people in the world and in this country need to understand that that is a real possibility.••• There is no economic stability without democratic stability. If you take away our democratic stability, we will take away the economic stability.”

It's surreal to me that we have ended up in such a wiked tendril of the multiverse scheme.

One day I'm watching Shoah thinking this'll never happen again and then here we are.

                  History, man.

@inthehands @dcdeejay Yes, and ideally, you want to show proof of the threat by starting now, creating immediate pain (like unsubscribing, boycotts, etc.) in the hope that they’ll react and prevent a total economic disaster. I’m all for breaking everything if it means saving democracy, but if we can achieve the goal with minimal damage, even better.
