      @leftylabourtech I really wish we had a government that believed our national postal service served a "nation-building" function as opposed to only viewing military spending and fossil fuel subsidies as deserving of the term.

        @daraghhayes There are postal outlets in all kinds of communities that the banks have long abandoned and shut down their branches. Postal banking (that did exist in Canada prior to 1968) is kind of a no-brainer.

        When I was in France there were all kinds of postal banking outlets...and they were obviously popular because they were crowded!

          @leftylabourtech Canada should be doing the opposite - nationalize all delivery companies, unionize all delivery workers, and eliminate the BS of having ten trucks from 10 companies drive down the same streets every day. All “last mile” deliveries should be Canada Post.

            @leftylabourtech I think Japan has some postal banking as well. I remember hearing talk of this being considered at one point in Canada, with an emphasis on how it could narrow gaps in the availability of banking services in remote locations.
