One way this comes up is new account registrations. Approval or Open is the eternal battle I see happen. I hate it.
I want open registration but not loose my life to battling new account spam.
So here is a screenshot of the tool I built. It checks new accounts and grades them and then silences or bans them based on 54 different properties. It's not perfect but seems to work for me.

this tool can support multiple users from other instances. But TBH I'm a little worried about sharing it. you must grant the tool almost full admin permissions and I'm not the best sys admin.

@stefan looks potentially very helpful! Understand your caution in sharing it though.

@andypiper I did build an invite system so if anyone was up to it I could share an invite code, if you know anyone who might be interested in testing it.

here is what my new account page looks like. I didn't have to take an action on any of these accounts because of indicators that made their spammy-ness seem obvious enough.

Again nothing is perfect. But here is an example of my "dry run" mode that will let you see what the bot would do if you toggled it on.

@stefan I've been making something *hilariously similar* to this in my free time. Is the code published anywhere? I'd love to check it out

@stefan @andypiper I'd be up for looking at it, I have a messy webhook to pipedream to reputation APIs thing going, but I'd love something more utile.
In case it informs the option, I am a managed hosted service, not a self-hoster.
