Cake is out, and cooled, and I'm eager to try it.

The frozen cherries don't make up as bright red as the maraschino variety. But I'm happy with the result. I'm a bit too lazy to make the glaze suggested, though.

@ottaross Hehe, a happy little accident. I wanted to mash some of the leftover pineapple and add it to the sponge, but it's still sitting in the fridge. Hub doesn't know though ๐Ÿ˜‰.

@vitskapsdama if you don't have leftover ingredients, you aren't doing it right ๐Ÿ˜‚

And a little portion to sample. Whoo, tasty. Not missing the 25% of the butter I left out

              How to Make Pineapple Tepache

Tepache is a breeze to make at home and it's a delicious and refreshing beverage. Plus? It uses the part of the pineapple that most people throw away!

@LillyHerself oh drat. Hoping to see someone who's swapping out the pineapple for something else.

@ottaross I considered that, but this particular cake is so dependent on that layer of moisture that is the pineapple slices, so I just wait till next time to join in ๐Ÿ˜Š (also, lazy today)

@LillyHerself @ottaross a few years ago I made an upsidedown cake with blackberries we had picked from around the yard. Sooooo sweet but tasty. Looking back at the picture it wasn't really much of a looker either. Basically you cook your fruit of choice with some sugar and reduce then put that in the bottom of the pan.
