Now a new study reported in Current Biology on September 8 helps to explain how birds can afford to maintain more brain cells: their neurons get by on less fuel in the form of glucose.

@benroyce @leeloo @falseknees dude, I watched a bluejay try to raid a junco nest yesterday and the robins stepped in and were the biggest badass bouncers you could ever imagine. I thought crows were tough but these robins... they're like knights of the round table out here

Makes ya wonder about how we always criticize the non-avian dinosaurs for having had small brains. Maybe theirs were on a par with the avians. Being a large predator, like a t-rex, would require some brain power. -
