    Today's #Firefox Nightly makes the profile backup feature available by default.

    The profile backup feature, when enabled, will take a snapshot of your profile and pack it into a single file that you can restore from on the same or a different machine. You can choose to encrypt the backup with a passphrase.

    In a recent #Firefox Nightly, visit about:settings#sync and scroll down to the Backup section to manage it.

      @mconley Awesome, great work!

      Wondering, did you see the "problem" with portable versions of Firefox?
      Looks like they even filed a bug. https://bugzil.la/2034043

        @metasieben @mconley so-called "portable versions" are some random person’s project. These are not supported and known to have various security issues. I recommend using a supported Firefox version from Mozilla

          @freddy @mconley I agree.

          it looks like this person used the portable version as a way to do support on an locked down device.

          https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/1srhw3d/cannot_restore_backup_created_using_firefoxs/

          The "cannot restore" sounded to me like, the backup did not restore (fully) to the "custom" profile path. AFAIK this is a supported usecase.
