(Here's my shitty back-of-the-napkin English translation.)
In despair, a man sat down;
I did not know the man—
But I knew despair.So I went up to the man

The man did not know me—
But he knew my lending a hand.We walked together.
We did not know each other—
But we knew walking together.The last line is so tricky to translate. "Walked together" might be too literal. Maybe "walked side by side"?
