GrapheneOS is an open source project.

@Joris He's a serial fabricator and many of his claims about it are likely untrue. He's experienced at getting the Dutch media to believe his inaccurate stories including previously duping them into believing he created GrapheneOS. The content on his site claims he was responsible for the 2014 celebrity nude leaks and much more. It's clearly not true and there's nothing ethical about the kind of stuff he's claiming credit for doing. He likely didn't do much or even any of what he claims.
@GrapheneOS
I'll see if I can nudge a journalist to dive a bit deeper. -
We need help from people in the Netherlands to get Tweakers to investigate their past story where they were duped by Abdoul Rasnab into believing he founded GrapheneOS. They should take it down and issue a formal retraction. Slop farms including Cybernews are unlikely to do much.
These journalists seriously need to take a close look at Abdoul Rasnab's website where he claims to be responsible for the 2014 celebrity nude leaks involving iCloud and much more. His claims are clearly false. How is the Dutch media getting duped into repeating his stories?
-
We heard from several people who knew Abdoul Rasnab that the reason for his arrest and imprisonment while awaiting trial was him pretending to have committed crimes to impress a woman who turned out to be a police informant. That sounds a lot like what he's doing right now.
@GrapheneOS incredible way to get yourself jailed. that's a lot more embarrassing than most crimes he could have committed.
-
Abdoul Rasnab repeatedly misrepresented himself as a creator or founder of GrapheneOS on LinkedIn and elsewhere. He repeatedly agreed to stop but never followed through. Later, we found out he built his whole business around misrepresenting himself as having created GrapheneOS.
@GrapheneOS I don’t know how this works, but is it possible for you to remove his Graphene OS “Experience” on LinkedIn?

This isn't limited to tech news sites passing themselves off as credible sources. Here's one of the major Dutch news sites publishing his claims:
We've attached some screenshots of claimed achivements on Abdoul's website at https://aquax.nl/.

@TuxOnBike How? LinkedIn allows people to claim anything they want.

@GrapheneOS
I'll see if I can nudge a journalist to dive a bit deeper.@Joris He literally spent time in prison which was seemingly because he makes up stories about his crimes. He's a serial fabricator. He did not create GrapheneOS and was not a founder. He made a company selling a proprietary fork of it which he wrongly called GrapheneOS. He now claims he founded it since he made a fork of it wrongly reusing the name. He has never worked for us and yet his LinkedIn claims he's working for GrapheneOS to this day as a business director. It's utter nonsense.

@GrapheneOS maybe they will react?
@Tweakers -
@GrapheneOS heads up, the word “tweaker” in the US means something else, usually referring to an unstable/paranoid/twitchy user of meth

We’d say enthusiast, modder, or power user
@Elizafox @GrapheneOS The use of tweaker in the US specifically for software modification (as opposed to hadware overclockers or general modders) predates its popularity as a reference to drug users ... although it certainly has that connotation now you can still find “tweak tool” references in software today.

@alerque @GrapheneOS as an American I’d definitely say modding more than tweaking nowadays because of the connotation although I hear “tweaking settings” etc still
That shift has happened in my lifetime too
If I say I’m a tweaker for example…

vs modder

@GrapheneOS Maybe LinkedIn removes the false entry if reported:

People have no shame!
Here's scammer Abdoul Rasnab in action.I don't know if this will help, but there's a TV show in the Netherlands that exposes scammers. Who knows? Maybe they can help with this situation:
https://opgelicht.avrotros.nl/
On the show, they expose scammers and collaborate with agencies such as the police and the tax office.Another option is the online help desk: https://www.fraudehelpdesk.nl/
I checked the government website, and they redirect to this address.
They provides all kind of informations on what to do if someone is scammed in the Netherlands. They can refer you to the agency that handles these matters. It's for individuals and businesses. But make sure you do your research, because here in the Netherlands, nonprofit organizations receive a lot of support, and legal services are often free.I imagine the process is complicated.
But have you considered filing a report with the Dutch police and pursuing legal action?

A court rule can create facts for this imposter behaviour. Action for an injunction - called in german "Unterlassungsklage"

Abdoul said he would donate a portion of the money from each device he sold to GrapheneOS but didn't end up providing most of it. Despite that, he later tried to extort us claiming he'd invested money and was owed returns. GrapheneOS isn't a business and has no shareholders.

We allowed him to make a fork and sell devices with it but he thoroughly misrepresented that as being GrapheneOS behind our backs. He took advantage of the language barrier and our lack of awareness about Dutch media along with us being occupied by the attacks from Copperhead.
