A new day. A new chance to succeed.

The ringing in my ears is loud this morning, but not loud enough to keep me from listening to the quiet sounds around me.

The hush of a dawn slowly lighting the day.

Fans in my computers. Water in the pipes.

The cat jumping down from wherever he wasn't supposed to be. Little dickens.

The clock ticking on the wall, its sweep hand marking the moments as they pass.

I find it comforting.
