    @yurisizov besides everything…

    I can’t imagine trying to design the scene to look like the creative vision if you have a toggle to change the appearance so dramatically!

    @leroy Well, fuck them artists is the message, I guess. Like all “AI”, the goal is to erase human voices.

      We need to separate “tech” companies from videogames. This level of ghoulishness is insufferable. This is not progress in visual tech. This is defacing of an art form by people with ugly souls.

      @yurisizov I'm reminded of that DF Q&A video from a while back where one of the questions was about how things like RTX Remix screw with artistic intent and Alex shaking his head like he didn't think it mattered.

        @DKesserich They’ve been disappointing for a long time, yeah. And I can’t really tell if this is them cowardly making sure Nvidia doesn’t blacklist them (like they do with honest reviewers), or if they are genuinely completely apathetic to the art form rendering tech is supposed to be made for.

        Either way, games are like empty benchmarks for them. Not something to be appreciated.

          @yurisizov I really hope that this slopification of game art will result in more studios going for stylized and unique art direction, just to stand out from games embracing this crap. Makes me want to re-install Dishonored or Bioshock Infinite more than anything.

            @RoseThorndyke I think that’s what they call “neural rendering”, a.k.a. what if genai imagined the entire image roughly based on the original frame, ditching any artistic intent, style, and voice.

              @okr Thing is, as a developer you won’t have a say here. Maybe not this time, but eventually their goal is to replace your voice and input.

                @yurisizov I get that the end goal is selling this as a filter that you can feed any input and make it "realistic" (can't wait for the visual nightmares it produces) and in the end: if players want to do that, who's gonna stop them. But I truly believe that games with unique and intentional art (even if it's simple/stylized) will stand out and be appreciated more for what they are once everything else is turned into slop. Or at least, I hope so...

                  @yurisizov so anyone can soon slopify/yassify any game at the very cheap cost of just a whole nother highend graphics card! 🧟

                  That's one way to try to increase your sales, I guess... 🤦‍♀️

                    @yurisizov I find it hard to believe that someone would have been satisfied at this and call their creation complete.

                      @JigenD Why? And why does it matter what you think is qualified to be the end result of someone else’s creative process? Open the article, if you will, there are screenshots from other games, including the new RE. Even if you are somehow an authority on what constitutes finished art, I’m sure that example will be sufficient.

                      But like… What the fuck is wrong with you? Hell!..

                        @yurisizov The idea that everything that already exists is pure and complete and perfect and new things are to be shunned and hated isn't a new one, but it is a bad opinion to have.

                        There's some objective problems with the tech they showed off, and some imagined ones by the community, unfortunately. I probably wouldn't call it 'good enough' to get the DLSS title, but I also think it is objectively improving the fidelity 80% of the time.

                          @yurisizov I'm sure this will help game performance as well, ha ha. Most gamers I know will sacrifice fidelity for frames all day;)

                            @lps Well, this does require two 5090s at the moment, so clearly this is going to work out great!
