This isn't going to stop me removing flatpak from my future systems.
This is well & good but I've read flatpak 2.0 will require systemd which has an "AI" Permissive policy.
Native system packages & AppImages only for me.

Hi, fortunately, it turns out the thing about flatpak 2.0 is probably nonsense. Someone who isn't a flatpak developer made it up, and I amplified it because I mistakenly thought he was a flatpak dev. See my quoted post.

@gamingonlinux This is a good step for flathub and I hope more repositories follow suit, especially homebrew since there is a LOT of slop coders who post garbage (mostly on the MacOS side).
@Jes I used to read all of the newly added casks for fun, but now there are so many new ones and so many are slop

If the intent is to target the low hanging fruit, the people who put zero actual effort into developing software, then you're not the target and have nothing to worry about.
Personally I'm in support of this. I am certainly of the opinion that if someone isn't able to fully understand what an AI is producing, then they shouldn't be using AI.
@TerrorBite @barthalion @gamingonlinux I understand. The industry at large is suffering right now.
The main issue I see is that it is a policy that cannot be enforced and therefore becomes hard to actually follow and might end up discouraging those who know what they are doing from submitting.
I don't really have any better suggestions though. This is likely the best we have right now

@gamingonlinux I'm not a fan of this. Even the author acknowledges that "LLMs are inevitable, and the reality is that you can expect less organically grown code as time goes on" and that exceptions are necessary: "Exceptions may be granted for mature, well-maintained projects."
I hope this is a temporary solution before a more transparent policy can be developed.

I wonder how they intend to deal with that (as in what do you do if you can't even tell it is AI generated).

FlatHub is starting to remind me of Snap.
I’ve tried reporting a few issues, but no one ever seems to pay any attention.
For example, Hüma Browser was discontinued a years ago, and the URL that FlatHub lists as the project’s homepage now redirects to a phishing site.
I don’t think anyone is monitoring their community forums. My account is still pending approval — Discourse forum software’s classic “you posted too soon after joining” issue.

That would be too funny. Actually, Discourse, the software, has a built-in setting that automatically flags new accounts. This is designed to prevent spam, but it can become a problem if you don’t have a fairly active staff on the site, since the backlog can grow extensively.
I’m not a fan of Discourse. Their approach to spam management often acts more as a deterrent to joining and participating. There are better options out there.

I do not use Microsoft products or services, which means, I do not have any interest in joining their AI infested site, GitHub.
