@quixoticgeek @bithive @thomholwerda that's 99% of the reason any women's sport exists. Just look at all the events that got split in the Olympics after a woman beat a man to a medal.

@quixoticgeek @bithive @thomholwerda is that true? I've never heard of a men's chess competition — there are women's events and there are open events. if that was the reason, wouldn't they actually segregate it?

@andrewt @quixoticgeek @bithive @thomholwerda You are right, there is no chess competition for men only. (At least none I am aware of.) The women’s chess competitions, leagues, clubs, etc. were introduced to a) make chess more popular for girls and women and b) protect them from the sexist lines and harassment of some of the male participants.

Two valid reasons that make me very upset, actually. 🤬

Look, banning trans women from sports is total bullshit, but at the very least you can see why hundreds of years of propaganda and misogyny in sports would make people assume trans women have an unfair advantage. It's bullshit of course, but at least I can follow that flawed logic.

But darts? Motherfucking darts? You're throwing objects weighing 12-32 g (depending on preference) at a board designed specifically to be penetrated by darts. Fucking children play this game.

If you ever needed proof this was never about protecting women, just think of how these nazis are banning trans women from darts.

          DARTS.
