"“I just hope nobody votes for Reform”

Meet 93-year-old Dorothy. She could be forced out of her home if her Reform-led council closes the care home she depends on

She’s not alone. Elderly residents across England could see their care homes closed under cost-cutting proposals from Reform UK

But Dorothy isn’t staying silent - and neither should we

I'm 74 now. Married to a younger man, he became seriously ill with throat cancer around 2022/3 and had surgery to remove his voice box. That was the start of the bereavement. I couldn't lipread him and because he was consistently ill and in bed and therefore couldn't get to appointments,he became almost forgotten. The local hospice at home had helped but dropped him as soon as his surgery ended. What none of us knew was the cancer had spread. We lost him in 2024." …

… "Our two adult children are on their own journey now, and having just lost my dog to kidney failure,I'm faced with an unsure future, with no money coming in except benefits and growing health conditions of my own. I always dreaded old age. Now I'm faced with it, I'm terrified. That this has even been spoken of in this way, is taking this lady's life away. All she has now is fear and worry." …

… "I can see things turning to how it was here before WW2 when Moseley spread nazi evils and people were scared. England... Britain has always tried to be fair, on the face of it. Government comes and goes. Who knows what we will get in the future. Whichever way it goes, it's out of our own hands.
