      My organization didn't get the printer contract renewed in time. Tomorrow no one can print or scan. At a several thousand person organization.

      This is hilarious and it is going to be absolutely chaotic.

        @AnastasiaE 🀣🀣🀣 it's even better than that... A university run by the federal government.

        ... Y'all got any faculty positions for systems engineering professors up your way? πŸ˜…πŸ˜¬

            @douglasvb well, first you should know that rather than renew it's contract with a major pdf software provider, my organization advised its thousands of employees to each just purchase their own license as needed

                  @AnastasiaE wow that's wild!

                  We're prohibited from installing anything. So a few years ago we all lost PDF software for several months because the contract wasn't renewed in time. And we're currently losing a major digital storage platform which is not great. They won't let us pay for individual licenses for that, either. Even from research funds.

                        @douglasvb Oh yeah, we went through the digital storage fiasco as well when the provider changed their fee model. Our institution wanted to go to a plan with 30 GB per person storage. We also begged to be able to pay for additional storage individually to no avail. In the end they are least signed us up for a slightly better plan.
