    @samir @cwebber we don't condone taking advantage like that, but we don't know that we really blame academics for it, either, heh

    @ireneista @cwebber I have been “guilty” of this when prototyping. I even asked a vendor once and they said they do not care, they accept it happens and it’s all factored in.

        @alienghic @WeirdWriter @cwebber

        I think they want the poor dead

        That doesn't make sense tho'f they wanna be rich. "Rich" is relative; it can only exist when there's poor people also.

        Poverty'd be solved by taxing the rich (n redistributing their wealth to the poor).

        @alienghic @WeirdWriter @cwebber So they may want poor people leading short n miserable lives (or they may not want't n are just ignorant on how ultimately them choosing to remain rich causes just that), but in fact, for maintaining their lifrstyle, they do need them existing as a class (even'f they're not dependent on any individual one)

            That's right! Your agents can now provision servers, spend money, and do everything for you!

            You don't even need to hand them a credit card!

            What's that? Why's that?

            Because they've teamed up with Stripe! Why yes, if you've signed up with Stripe Atlas (don't "shrug" this Atlas off, friends!), which is Stripe's "launch a startup for you" company-to-make-companies, they'll give you $100k of FREE credits!!!

            That first hit! It's free! Hey!

            I bet all the future hits will be too, right? And uh, who will be left holding that bill after you've established this nice dependency?

            Vibe coding? That's nothing! Time to go all in on Vibe Founding!

              Hey don't worry! They limit it to $100 / month by default once you go past their limit of free credits.

              Their free credits of ONE THOUSAND TIMES the default upper limit.

              So once you have a business running, once you've crossed that free "gift"...

              I'm sure it'll cost about $100/month on average by then. Yeah! That seems likely!

                @cwebber@social.coop

                Humans can be in the loop to grant permission and must accept Cloudflare's terms of service, but no human steps are otherwise required from start to finish.
                Humans are still required to sign this contract but there's now no need for them to read it.

                Incredible business model concept. The software tool that buys our product for you. Saving you the hard work of deciding if you want to buy our product. 10/10 no note.

                    @cwebber I don’t even want or need this machine drug. Why is it here!?!?!!! I remember in 1999 people used to actually be capable of administering their own websites.

                    I really wish we could go back to lan party like it was 1999

                        @idren @cwebber there really isn't this much complication about it is there?

                        People seem to be convinced that all of these things are necessary... all just to run a simple website.

                        In reality, you don't need much to do it.
