@randahl @benroyce, they had opportunity to make normal life for most of the people for one generation in history of their nation. What did they do with it - started wars.
They have lost 1M+ and they are fine with that. If they wanted to change government, they would have done that with less casualties.
So.. Don't humanise orcs till their society changes the same way German did.

@randahl in the USA, there are 541 prisoners per 100,000 citizens, which is almost 2 times more than in Russia. Which country is the largest prison? Who better than this country to take into account the rest of freedom, right?

Russian Telegram videos now show how ordinary citizens are stopped and having their phones searched.

During these searches, the police writes down their phones' unique International Mobile Equipment Identity number to log their real identity and this number in a database. So every time a citizen turns on his phone, the dictatorship then knows which citizen it is, where he is, what he is doing online, and who he is talking to.

This is not a country. This is the largest prison on earth.

            the USA fucking sucks

            and?

does the USA sucking magically change Russia away from being a shithole mafia thugocracy ethnofascist imperialist mass murdering genocider of Ukrainians?

            no

            so what is your point?

ah, i know what it is:

            whataboutism

the primary mode of empty denial by the USSR, and continued into the Putin govt, deflecting valid criticism with "well, what about..."

            weak

it's a lazy shallow form of propaganda only demonstrating the speaker is a fucking moron

@hakudzero Did Ukraine invade Russia in February 2022, or did Russia invade Ukraine?

Once you get that right, you know who the terrorists are.

@randahl поэтому можно убивать мирных жителей? Бить по домам, школам, отдельным людям? Это звучит странно.

@randahl it seems doubtful they would register IMEIs for that purpose. When I purchased a SIM card in Russia back in 2010 I had to show my passport already and they had to copy everything from it. I know that was already common practice for years at that time.

So for anybody with a Russian SIM card, they already have the ability to look up the IMEI of the device in which a particular SIM is along with the passport of who purchased the SIM.

So every time a citizen turns on his phone, the dictatorship then knows which citizen it is, where he is, what he is doing online, and who he is talking to.

This is not a country. This is the largest prison on earth.

@randahl it reminds me of a certain country called USA since the last presidential elections, and also reminds me of what a good chunk of european politicians want to start introducing. In general everywhere we are going towards digital authoritarian prisons.

@randahl The U.S. is probably 8-12 months away from this sort of intrusive, thought police government.
