    And this is how I finished the first book of Mistborn in 2 days

      @skinnylatte

      Girl, same!

      Mistborn is so good! Fascinating system of magic.

      I'm currently listening to the Spellmonger series by Terry Mancour. Really excellent world-building.

      Also reading Dungeon Crawler Carl. It's stupid and hilarious and I love it.

        @skinnylatte This is how I read the entirety of Pratchett's Discworld (~40 books) over the last five years. And most of Scalzi's novels. And the Jenkinsverse serials.

        Now I'm doing Murderbot Diaries.

          @skinnylatte Michelle Sagara/West (she writes under both) has two excellent and very long series you could check out.

                @skinnylatte
                From CBC Radio's Next Chapter,

                Why fantasy novels offer much more than escapism

                "It was a childhood love of magical stories of dragons, wizards and fantasy that ignited the idea for K.J. Aiello’s book, The Monster and the Mirror: Mental Illness, Magic, and the Stories We Tell. In the book K.J. tells their story of trying to understand their life and mental illness, and how that world of magic and fantasy helped shape who they are. Plus, Nova Scotia musician Maggie Andrew recommends The Mountain is You by Brianna Wiest.

                Books discussed on this week's show include:

                Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien

                A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness, illustrated by Jim Kay

                The Monster and the Mirror: Mental Illness, Magic, and the Stories We Tell by KJ Aiello

                The Mountain is You by Brianna Wiest"

                  Oh, maybe hold off on Dungeon Crawler Carl. I didn't know about Mila when I mentioned that. One of the main characters is a talking tortie, so that could be rough.

                  I lost my little old tortie in 2019. So sorry for your loss.

                    @skinnylatte The curse of being a fast reader. So much time, so few books to read.
