    @Maker_of_Things That sounds like a lot to process. I bet your things will find good homes

    @TheDonsieLass
    I hope so.

    I have no control over it, short of having an unreasonably high reserve. But that only means they could go to someone wealthier., or not at all.

    It feels bad because I have never wanted my furniture making to be unaffordable to ordinary people like ourselves (it is why I am poor) but now it is 'get as much as I can' to help with moving to Wales.

      @Maker_of_Things That's a noble position on affordability. I think you're right to focus on getting to Wales now overall and I hope the sales help in that

        Also, it's not furniture we use, so it's a big ornament in the corner of a room. Any money can be turned into something we will use and enjoy. And maybe the new owner will make better use of it.

          Good Morning Worlds!
          We are heading south of Manchester to take my furniture, and other stuff, to an auction house.

          This will probably be the last time I see and handle my work. But I think it is time to let go.
          It does feel like letting your children go, but also knowing that you will never see them again. 😢

          I don't know what else I will do today until I go to work later this afternoon.

          I guess I will just look for distraction.

          I have been feeling sometimes that I am in a situation which is like letting children go. I feel that so deeply, although I have nothing as wonderful as your furniture. I hope it won't hurt so much when it's over and you can move on more easily.

            @TheDonsieLass @Maker_of_Things Also, also, I think Alfred's done enough stuff for the community, free, that getting some decent money for a piece from a wealthy person is well deserved.

              The deed is done. And I am hurting now.
              Barring a no sale, I will never see my work again.

              If it wasn't for the potential elevated value due to their connection to the King, I don't think I would have let them go.

              They will go into a September auction sale.

              I am holding on to one piece though, a small art deco floor standing cabinet.
              I love it and will use it.

                @TheDonsieLass
                I remember when I exhibited 'Chair In Flight' (the one that has just gone to auction) 20 years ago, someone asked how much it would cost to buy.

                I said it was £2500.

                She asked if I could make her twelve of them to go around a dining table.
                I declined, it would take me 300 hours to make one, and being hand made I wouldn't save any significant time making a batch of them.

                    Are you downsizing?

                    As long as you've documented your work it'll always be part of your life. Good luck with the sale, either way

                        Ummmm, if downsizing means moving from a semi-detached house in Salford to a few acres of Wales, then yes.

                        We are clearing the house of anything and everything we are not taking, or can't realistically justify taking, so that we can put the house on the market.

                        We will then find a smallholding in Wales to move to and take Mum with us.

                        Any extra money we can make from selling stuff now, will help as we are likely to need to have adaptations for Mum, and maybe even the cost of renting for a while.

                        My work is fully documented, but physically letting go of something I 'birthed', from nothing but an idea, is hard.

                            Just done another tip trip.
                            Loads more random rubbish, plastics, card, and e-waste gone. Also oils and antifreeze from two cars ago when we had a mk2 Octavia Scout that leaked everything.

                            I am going to go and do something else for a bit now.
