@benroyce @davoyager yes because the Democrats in Maine have made it quite clear that we don’t consider him trustworthy.

@BuckRogers1965 @benroyce @andrew @davoyager yeah, we're still going to whine about it because people still don't believe that the idiots they argue with are bots. That post is like a white person saying to a black person:" hey, getting mad for being called a [n1993r] is not going to work. Think happy thoughts, at least you're not a slave anymore. "

      Very bad advice bruh.

@benroyce @davoyager so many jobs. We millennials, especially, have been asleep at the wheel, or watching US politics like a spectator sport.

It’s not an accident that they keep screwing us - it reinforces that feeling of helplessness!

We need to email blast every dem and independent about every upcoming thing they need to do now until the general, and keep doing it.

Wakey wakey! Every election matters. EVERY ELECTION.

              @andrew @benroyce @davoyager Youngest millenial is now about 30.
Nobody (as a "generation") votes before age 30.
You may be a little late, but not so much.
You are in the same place as Boomers in 1994.

                remember the game plan:

                1. #vote in the #primaries, get real left #candidates

if you don't don't complain about corporatist dems ever again: you're the fucking problem

                2. #vote in the general no matter who wins the primaries

yes, the dems fucking suck, but if you're willing to let your country slide to #fascism because you don't get perfect you're an entitled moron

Now I have to go get my registration adjusted so I can do the primaries 😹
(I still have time, but I need to keep myself on track besides doing everything else in my daily life 😹)

@macacator @benroyce @BuckRogers1965 @davoyager you mean getting drowned by bot slop and not getting pissed at it? It’s certainly an ivory tower kinda vibe but @benroyce just seems passionate.

The only bot posts I want to see are constant calls to action, reminders about voting + registration deadlines & helpful links! Also cats.

Fortunately ActivityPub protocol makes it easy to opt out. Bots here have to pick their battles and manage post frequency carefully people will just block|defederate.

@andrew @benroyce @BuckRogers1965 @davoyager yes, calls to action, even small ones, should be spammed. Reminders to go out and vote should be spammed. Reminders to train, stock up, stay informed, community driven tactics should be spammed.

"You whining about bots whining contributes what exactly."

                          it contributes the truth

some people are in denial of this truth. so it must be said

some of the entitled mindless cynicism/ learned helplessness/ toxic idealism whining is genuinely that

others are right wing trollfarm cosplaying left with an easy psyop to suppress left voter turnout

                          both are true

speaking a truth is not a problem

@benroyce @davoyager what’s really soul crushing is when you hear about a candidate running unopposed. How do we not have a database with good UI/UX that independents & newcomers seeking party support can find races where their only competition is some 1,000 year old okiedoke who hasn’t brought their best for decades?

@benroyce As a note - "Vote in the primaries" is harder in some states than others.
If you are registered independent, and try to change parties to democrat in NY right now (after Feb 14th), you won't be able to vote in this round of primaries - your party change won't happen until june 30. And if you're not registered as a democrat, you can not vote in the dem primary (closed primaries).
So - worth checking how your local elections handle that sooner than later.

@andrew @benroyce All politics are local. If there's nobody local you can't carpetbag someone in and expect to win. Recruiting good candidates is hard

@benroyce No problem. The rules around primaries in this country (and even just here in NY) are an aggressively anti-democratic mess, in a lot of places.

                                        @linkerman @andrew @davoyager

but the point is to fix it

                                        not accept it

                                        right?

i always worry about comments like yours because i read them and then i think

                                        "and?"

                                        "and therefore we are doomed"

                                        or

"and therefore get mad and vote"?

@benroyce As a note - "Vote in the primaries" is harder in some states than others.
If you are registered independent, and try to change parties to democrat in NY right now (after Feb 14th), you won't be able to vote in this round of primaries - your party change won't happen until june 30. And if you're not registered as a democrat, you can not vote in the dem primary (closed primaries).

It’s much easier when you know to vote Democrat for life. There was never a time that switching to Red made sense to me at all.
