agreed
the answer to your question is we mob the fucking primaries coming up soon and get real leftist candidates in there
the problem is primary turnout is *atrocious*
then we get 1 billion social media comments whining the dem candidates suck

just imagine if all that energy was instead spent just showing up in the fucking primaries
and this is where we note that a lot of the whining energy out there is a purposeful trollfarm effort to suppress leftist vote turnout
@benroyce @andrew @davoyager I too often hear “I don’t vote in the primaries because I’m not a Democrat” and it’s infuriating, because if your complaint is the democrats need to be better… the time to demand that is the primaries!
-
@macacator @benroyce @andrew @davoyager
People believe what they want to believe, you telling them stuff does not change that.
Just go forward with what you want to be trrue and assume it is true, make your own reality.
You whining about bots whining contributes what exactly.
Make positive posts about the people you want to see represent you.

"You whining about bots whining contributes what exactly."
it contributes the truth
some people are in denial of this truth. so it must be said
some of the entitled mindless cynicism/ learned helplessness/ toxic idealism whining is genuinely that
others are right wing trollfarm cosplaying left with an easy psyop to suppress left voter turnout
both are true
speaking a truth is not a problem
i have no fucking clue what the point of your post is

and if you, out there, are not a democrat:
register now as a democrat
then show up in the primaries in a few weeks and get real left candidates on the ballot
or do nothing
and whine the democrats suck
and then look in the mirror when you wonder how we got this way as a country

@benroyce @Extra_Special_Carbon @mattdm @davoyager Is there another "they" in this conversation? Perhaps someone I've blocked?
@kingtor @Extra_Special_Carbon @mattdm @davoyager
the they was you. the response was not to you, but an intervening comment
-
@kali @benroyce @mattdm @davoyager I didn't fuck up (in terms of registering and voting, I've fucked up in plenty of ways—just ask my wife). I have when I was younger, although the cost was pretty low, I think, and did learn my lesson because it was pretty obvious the cost would be higher if W won (or stole) the election. I've been a registered Democrat, active in local politics and primaries, have and voted Democratic since 1998 when Newt Gingrich was on the march—even when I've had to hold my nose to do it.
-
@benroyce This kind of bothsideism is what has gotten us in this situation in the first place. The only Dem I can think of who "sucks" is Fetterman. Name another one or give it a rest
@davoyager @benroyce Jared Golden.
-
@davoyager @benroyce Jared Golden.
he's not up for reelection
-
he's not up for reelection
@benroyce @davoyager yes because the Democrats in Maine have made it quite clear that we don’t consider him trustworthy.
-
@BuckRogers1965 @benroyce @andrew @davoyager yeah, we're still going to whine about it because people still don't believe that the idiots they argue with are bots. That post is like a white person saying to a black person:" hey, getting mad for being called a [n1993r] is not going to work. Think happy thoughts, at least you're not a slave anymore. "
Very bad advice bruh.

the idea of getting mad at people pointing out that bots exist is insane

@benroyce @BuckRogers1965 @andrew @davoyager people like that speak from privilege because in some way, shape or form, it's not happening to them, so it's OK.
-
@benroyce @davoyager so many jobs. We millennials, especially, have been asleep at the wheel, or watching US politics like a spectator sport.
It’s not an accident that they keep screwing us - it reinforces that feeling of helplessness!
We need to email blast every dem and independent about every upcoming thing they need to do now until the general, and keep doing it.
Wakey wakey! Every election matters. EVERY ELECTION.
@andrew @benroyce @davoyager Youngest millenial is now about 30.
Nobody (as a "generation") votes before age 30.
You may be a little late, but not so much.
You are in the same place as Boomers in 1994. -
" #Democrats deliver ‘stunning’ flip in New Hampshire special election, latest in series of 28 upsets"
remember the game plan:
1. #vote in the #primaries, get real left #candidates
if you don't don't complain about corporatist dems ever again: you're the fucking problem
2. #vote in the general no matter who wins the primaries
yes, the dems fucking suck, but if you're willing to let your country slide to #fascism because you don't get perfect you're an entitled moron

Bobbi Boudman’s win over Republican Dale Fincher could be a harbinger of blue wave during midterms
the Guardian (www.theguardian.com)
@benroyce
on everything you just said

Now I have to go get my registration adjusted so I can do the primaries
(I still have time, but I need to keep myself on track besides doing everything else in my daily life

@macacator @benroyce @BuckRogers1965 @davoyager you mean getting drowned by bot slop and not getting pissed at it? It’s certainly an ivory tower kinda vibe but @benroyce just seems passionate.
The only bot posts I want to see are constant calls to action, reminders about voting + registration deadlines & helpful links! Also cats.
Fortunately ActivityPub protocol makes it easy to opt out. Bots here have to pick their battles and manage post frequency carefully people will just block|defederate.

@andrew @benroyce @BuckRogers1965 @davoyager yes, calls to action, even small ones, should be spammed. Reminders to go out and vote should be spammed. Reminders to train, stock up, stay informed, community driven tactics should be spammed.
