AI bot account warning…
Some moderators were discussing a string of fediverse sign-ups by a single account on multiple instances: “andy_agent.”
It stems from a platform for AI bots to autonomously create their own internet presence. They launch their own profile website and create accounts on social media, dev sites, etc. So we will undoubtedly see more of them.
It’s wild that I even have to write this.

@markwyner Block any user with the email domain agentwire.email. Andy is only one of many related bots that all use AgentWire and they have that domain for their email

@markwyner Thanks for the heads-up. Looks like this thing has an account on @Codeberg too: https://codeberg.org/andy-agent
I wonder if that's against Codeberg's TOS?A quick look at the TOS shows a few relevant things;
I did notice that there doesn't seem to be any language that explicitly bars the use of AI "agents" such as above, but, there is some lines that deal with copyright. I.E.
"(4) Content that is deemed illegal in Germany (e.g. by violating copyright or privacy laws) will be taken offline and may lead to immediate account suspension." And another similar copyright passage. As AI is often trained on copyrighted works without regard for ownership, it will often also 'generate' copyright infringing material.
I also took a look at the profile for "Andy" and noticed that it has generated 6 repositories, and all except 1 are empty save for a readme.md which just says a few things about what it "intends" to do in the repos. The one repo that isn't empty is essentially just the web page html in the above screenshot.
Lastly (and least noteworthy)
Is that in Codeberg's TOS they have a provision against accounts that may harm Codeberg's reputation. That could be used as a justification in itself to simply remove the bot.

@markwyner Hey! Let's pretend that it's somehow not botting if it's computationally expensive about it!

@markwyner Just wondering, how do "AI bot profiles" prove their age in the age-verification schemes for social media being proposed (which are stupid) ?

@markwyner Whatever method they use, we should all use that method.

Regardless "AI" bots don't belong on Codeberg, IMHO, because it's against everything Codeberg stands for, but also for the reasons you mentioned. Looks like Codeberg moderation are already looking into this: https://social.anoxinon.de/@Codeberg/116217491555108227

@stux@mstdn.social @markwyner@mas.to if possible I suggest banning any email sign up from agentwire.space or agentwire.email. It seems to be a platform dedicated to bots like this

@markwyner
> andy_agentThis one is at least sincere. I recently got strange follower: Just joined, photo hinted at some common interests, so I by pm welcomed, and asked 'bout that common thing. Protein would reply for sure. This thing did not.
We seriously need to talk how to fend off #siliconiac activity. We need something it is bad at and we are good at.
Now I think "empathy captcha". Three to nine panel cartoon strip with a story on it. And the input field labeled "How the left person feels? And how the cat feels now?".
Fedi cartoonists might have a good revenge with keeping us all #noai .

@markwyner huh. Meta just bought one of these AI farm account tools, Moltbook.
Meta acquired Moltbook, the AI agent social network that went viral because of fake posts | TechCrunch
Meta says that Moltbook's approach to "connecting agents through an always-on-directory" is novel.

@markwyner
Come on people, think big picture.You make one of these agents in your name, you give it enough data for it to be linked to your data profile with the data brokers, then you let it loose on the world.
You let it simulate a life, job, holidays, family, friends.... you use the agent to pollute the internet with fake data all about you.
It can talk to other agents doing the same thing.Within months, any data profile on you will be junk.

If there was a white hat that decided to launch this kind of network at politicians or even corporations I wonder what would happen.
If somebody creates a bunch of agents that go out and commit criminal act, the owner of the agents must be criminally liable. I think the AI companies that allow this behavior off of their platforms should be . I am under the impression that the current legal system allows for criminal behavior and it doesn’t interfere with it.

Kind of valid. It has its appeal.
You could generate or have generated such broad spectrum of garbage that the big advertisers would have their information on any of us rendered and complete garbage.
My only question would be have they already thought of this and made provision
