@Strandjunker isn't germany the default spot for the injured to go to
@grumpasaurus @Strandjunker yes, biggest usa medical hub outside the usa.

US troops are not in Germany to protect Germany. They’re there because the US needs bases to conduct operations beyond the North American continent. If Trump withdraws them, he will harm the United States, not Germany.
It’s absurd how many Americans fail to grasp this.
@Strandjunker although it's had its stumbles, NATO has generally been a good thing. Mostly just as a deterrent. And this would massively damage its capability. Each country in NATO is fairly specialised. They all rely on the US to do the transport and logistics. All the heavy lift, most of the supply chain functions to get gear to the front lines and most of the tanker planes are American. Germany is the main shipping point from Europe.

That's right. Many US veterans owe their lives to treatment they received at Ramstein after being wounded in action or accidentally injured in the Mideast or elsewhere. (So I'm told. No firsthand knowledge myself.)
@oldclumsy_nowmad @grumpasaurus @Strandjunker the biggest usa medical hub is in Bavaria, specialists & special treatment is applied there. Ramstein is the biggest US airbase outside the USA.

Yes, he hurts a community of Germans temporarily until the economy had time to adjust to US military no longer contributing.
But otherwise, German bases are a bargain for the US. Much of the costs is funded by the German tax payer.

@Strandjunker Please tell this to our Mr. Merz! He dosen't know for sure!
Because many pepple here are scared because of Trumps announcement.
For me it's clear to see, like most of Trumps decisions, even this one is weaking US much more than Germany and EU!
@pictureman @Strandjunker the general opinion in EU/GER about USA troops being reduced is "yay". Generally the countries are very positive about being officially cleared to gear up again. GER/EU is not parading like you are used by from USA, they are very diplomatic & clever about this topic but scared they ate not. Who would have thought up to 18 months ago to ask GER to invest in military again!? Giving back GER a military influence & power is historically a big impact.

@thegarbagebird
The economic crisis weakens currencies. There is a fair chance that Trump's crypto friends recognized a chance.
Trump might salivate over the fact that he gets a push button to wipe out any stablecoin account with a single command."All stablecoin issuers must possess the technical capability to seize, freeze, or burn payment stablecoins when legally required and must comply with lawful orders to do so."

@thegarbagebird it doesn't mean that there aren't a bunch of influencers with brains in his orbit who take advantage of his character flaws and lack of brains.

It was an ambition of Netanyahu for decades, so it stands to reason that it was him who got Trump to join.
That doesn't mean Putin is not making the best of the situation and throws in his two cents after the fact.

@aiuto @Strandjunker Not even close. The other two interested & capable contenders for 'world leader' are Russia & China. Whatever your beef is with the USA, you're not going to see a better world order emerge under either of them. Quite the opposite, in fact. We'd see imperialism re-embraced & nuclear enabled. Only a complete moron would see that as preferable.
@Beggarmidas your point of view is embossed by a typical USamerican view: 2 possibilities / either or. But there are many more possibilities & in all of those others the world is better off without a Felon 47 driven USA. You are right: no one wants a RUS / CHN driven world either - we are working on one of the other solutions & so far successfully building up new powers & allies. @aiuto @Strandjunker
