    @benroyce They probably figure since they have to ingest and store all of those IDs for age, they may as well snag the other info as well.

    Predictable, I'm afraid. Every single country doing the age-gating shit will do this.

      @benroyce
      Personnellement je n'aime pas me montrer, et c'est pareil "IRL" en fait 🫠.
      Question de préférence.
      Et tout ça doit être un choix de chacun, un choix possible parmis d'autres.

      Pour moi, ce "costume de nu" a le gros désavantage de ne jamais pouvoir en changer... C'est là son seul problème.

      Et puis, un speudo on peut aussi parfois avoir beaucoup plus de consistance qu'une identité "réelle".
      Prenez "Banksy" par exemple... Quel intérêt pour la plupart de connaître son nom "réel" ?

      @Mourioche

      Je choisis de me tenir nu devant tout le monde, car cela procure une forme de discipline.

        @disorderlyf @benroyce Or Twitter/X or pretty much any other social media.

        @wattevans @benroyce I specify Facebook because of their "real name" policy and it's clear lack of mitigation of any toxicity whatsoever.

          So if you have a psychotic significant other would you stay with them just because they already know "everything about you?" Because this is that scenatio with Fecesbook. 😉

            So the solution is #moderation

            The solution is not driving vulnerable people off social media

            Also I wonder how the fuck they will implement this

            @benroyce As with the kids bans around the world and the porn bans/ID checks in US states, it just pushes people from legitimate services that comply with the law over to shadier services that are in another country and DGAF. There are worse sites than Facebook and Twitter. Teenagers and incels will find them.

              @benroyce Facebook etc. apparently lobby for these requirements. The theory being that it is another bar to entry so the larger players will be able to implement it and won't lose as many users as the start ups, and they get to know the real ID of most of their users. It is very short sighted, it *will* impact new sign ups, it will affect which services people use.

                @benroyce I'm hopeful it is the kiss of death for most of the big social media companies. Why would I use Facebook/Whatsapp when I can use Signal without proving who I am? Of course it also means that 4chan etc. will increase their user count, so it isn't all sunshine and roses.

                  @benroyce Truth be told, I am rather toxic, even if cooked first. Don't eat any mushrooms you can't identify, kids. *Especially* if the log the mushroom is sprouting out of says, "Psst! Hey! Over here! Eat one of these mushrooms."

                      @draken @benroyce @kirakira while true , it would be like if that psycho also lied to all your friends and told them you beat them, so if you leave them you have no contacts.

                      Realistically I'm not giving them what they dont already have by just using messenger, knowing that every single thing I type is going right to zucc and their piece if shit ai.

                      Its not worth being an isolationist to "stick it to the man". The fact is, they got you, even if you think they dont. Or live with 0 devices.

                        That is the kind of defeatist attitude the Big Tech broligarchs want you to have to keep extracting money out of your attention. Even if you ditch Meta but are still using some Google products you're still depriving Fuckerberg of money. Your real friends will leave Meta with you.
