    @Li that part! mental health symptoms would decrease so quickly with increase universal basic income (ubi), instead of paying trillions for more wars, utilizing funds to create housing so that we can eliminate homelessness, etc.
    instead, we’re trap in such terrible economy, jobs being lost, low pay, high gas prices, groceries, bills. it’s ridiculous

        @Li @ashleyyrain
        Taxation is only theft when that money is used to help people. Then the people being taxed feel worse knowing that someone else just benefited from their tax dollars because they think everything is a zero-sum game. If it's used for violence and brutality, then the people being taxed can still feel like they're getting ahead.

          @Phracker2Art @ashleyyrain tbh taxation is theft, in some sense anyawy; and i dont like taxes (i mean fuck capitalism, fuck money in general, fuck paying a subscription to exist and to not have violence committed against you ?) but .. id also rather we steal from the rich and give to the poor, than steal from the poor give to the rich, to murder the poor; i also would rather not have 'money' at all, or at the very least not "super rich" so yknow, in context that makes a bit more sense

          but yeah it is as you say .. most who say that though are completely fine with all of that shit, specifically want to still have a state and this time it only hurts people, and you still have to pay a subscription to exist, you just pay it only to corporate overloads, instead of state overlords; and well fuck that 🙂

              @ashleyyrain the GOP is not interested in nurturing a virtuous cycle but rather in maintaining a vicious one more tax cuts for the rich -> more and poorer people-> more desperation and crime -> more prisons, more political grip

                @ashleyyrain biggest lie capitalism sells you : "you cant buy happyness"

                the second lie it tells you is that said hapiness should come at a cost

                  @ashleyyrain this. Diagnosis acts to re-situate the problem away from the societal factors that cause it and onto the person who suffers from it, putting the onus on them to deal with. And usually, pressuring the person to change themself to fit the system, rather than changing the system to fit them.

                  This tends to happen whether or not diagnosis is well-intended. And whether this is formal medicalised diagnosis, or any other system of attaching problem labels to individuals.

                  There's a reason capitalist systems are really keen on handing out diagnoses.

                      @fay definitely. i am sure whoever made this post isn’t a clinician nor was ever diagnosed with a mental health disorder… thinking more a “figure of speech” (although I’m aware it is not stated here). most folks will draw their own conclusions. my intention of this post is more so about how having access to basic resources can reduce, or as you stated, manage symptoms that can be otherwise be exacerbated.

                        @ashleyyrain @fay just an anecdote, but for me getting a job made my depression go from clinical to subclinical.

                          @ashleyyrain@mastodon.social @fay@lingo.lol @bkhl@tilde.zone yea also just an anecdote, but for me all the financial security in the world - while it would help with a lot of stuff - would still leave me completely broken

                            @_lilly @fay @ashleyyrain Im not questioning that at all, but then the screenshot doesn't say "all" mental illness, it says "a lot". If I were to critique posting it would probably just be that it's too blatantly obvious to be novel.
