If you were to buy a brand new car, regardless of type, would you be more or less inclined to buy a car that has no telematics and infotainment, i.e., an "unconnected" car, specifically for data privacy reasons?

(Note: A car that can connect phone audio only to the sound system without any data sent outside the car counts as an unconnected car.)

Updated because I had the response explanations backward LOL of course

@Nonya_Bidniss I think your lead-in question and poll questions are contradictory.

@adamshostack I fixed it already haha oops

@Nonya_Bidniss there’s invasive tracking in all ev’s and most reasonably current ic engine cars

@Kierkegaanks Yes, that's what the poll is about -- to demonstrate a market for unconnected cars. Or not

@Nonya_Bidniss i’d prefer an older ice car for battery hostile journeys that my insurance company can go fuck themselves over

@Nonya_Bidniss Absolutely. For both privacy reasons and to avoid buying features I don't use.

I'm hoping to stretch the life of my current unconnected vehicle until I can no longer drive, I have zero desire to drive a surveillance device. I'd love to get an EV, but I don't know if there are any in the US that are unconnected.

@wanderinghermit @Nonya_Bidniss
Yep. Hoping these Hondas stay operational until they can be restored as classic cars.

@Nonya_Bidniss I voted that I don't want cars to exist, but in reality I have to drive. I will end up with another car someday, and I would prefer it collect zero data, aside from the total miles driven.

@Nonya_Bidniss @lupus_blackfur I’m a little fuzzy on your definitions. I want a “dumb” car that has a Carplay/Android enabled screen as all my technology requirements are supplied by the phone

@erik I tried to address that but I was not thinking a screen. If it doesn't send anything outside the car (or save data the dealer's mechanic secretly downloads while in for maintenance) it's unconnected. If the phone connects via bluetooth to the car to say, play music or make a call, and there's nothing else that can happen, it qualifies as unconnected. @lupus_blackfur
