@t_robinart I can't speak for him but, as a native English speaker, this is my own interpretation.

Corporate sponsors often bring some sort of terms with them. The idiom is "with strings attached."

I understand the "balance" to be between that, and individual donations from the users that Blender serves.

Problem is, they may lose a lot of individual donors over this, which could upset that balance. I think @fsiddi needs to grasp that genAI/LLM companies are unacceptably toxic.

Surely you people know as well as anyone that it is never 'just a donation' if comes from a company. You can't be that naive?

In this case it smells a lot like Blender is being used to whitewash the image of Anthropic as an unethical stealing slop-machine.

@gruni @Blender @blogdiva And many of the authors they stole from (like me) won't see any of the payout because the standard to prove copyright in the class is lower than it would have been had I sued an individual plagiarizer. They just get to have my work for free.
