Surely you people know as well as anyone that it is never 'just a donation' if comes from a company. You can't be that naive?

In this case it smells a lot like Blender is being used to whitewash the image of Anthropic as an unethical stealing slop-machine.

Nothing is as empowering for artist quite like being happy to get a donation from a company that specialise in Generated AI and is infamous for stealing peoples' art and their work.

@Blender Tangent Animation alum here. I have no problem with this, the AIbros have all the money and you need as much money as you can get, and I do believe your lawyers are smart enough to make sure they can't use this to lever in some slop.

Hell, maybe they could even help you train up a tight, local LLM that could act as a built-in natural language tutor that knows the entire data structure. Be the first 3D app that teaches itself to the user on modest hardware.

I am a despiser of these hucksters, but take that money and use it well.
