Newborns are not vaccinated and have no prior infections that might protect them. A STUDY compared infants with #COVID19 versus RSV and found "Children with SARS-CoV-2 were more likely to require invasive mechanical ventilation, receive vasoactive infusions, and die compared to RSV with and without SARS-CoV-2." In this study of 1,406 children infected with COVID, RSV, or both, 8 children died: three (2.9%) with COVID and five (0.4%) with RSV.
