"Black Start" Power Plant, Belgium - Part 1: Diesel generator hall
Built in the 1970s, this Belgian facility houses eight ACEC generators capable of producing over 80 megawatts. It was demolished a few years ago.
As a "black start" station, it is designed to restore the power grid during a total blackout. These diesel units use on-site batteries to start the system, and bring high-voltage stations back online.
