By & large, #Republicans are defending the #Trump administration’s #immigration crackdown, while #Democrats are forcefully criticizing it. One exception was Rep Michael McCaul, Republican of Texas, who is retiring. He called on #ICE to stop “roving patrols” in American cities, even as he maintained that the admin was already successfully reorienting its #deportation campaign, which he framed as necessary.

Rodney Scott, the commissioner of #CBP, was also asked whether #AlexPretti deserved to die. In response, Scott said he would not comment on ongoing investigations before all of the facts were gathered. An initial review by his agency’s internal watchdog found that Pretti was shot by a #BorderPatrol agent & a CBP officer.
