      @bloor and, for the record, I’ve always described WWW as the Wibbly Wobbly Web

        @bloor I love the old 'Apache' server, named thus as it was initially patched together.

              @lumiukko I agree.

              I've always pronounced it My-Ess-Kew-Ell.

              But equally I've always pronounced DNS as Dee-Enn-Ess.

              In other words not MySequel and Dennis.

                        It's not. Sequel was a predecessor of SQL.

                        Pronouncing SQL "sequel" is like pronouncing Windows "DOS".

                          @leeloo @bloor It makes sense if you're spanish, because first there's Windows DOS and then there's Windows Tres Punto Uno.

                                        @bloor I do find it random what TLAs people pronounce and what they don't. I mean obviously "sequel" is superior to "ess cue ell": there's no contest in that one.

                                        But I've met people who say VEE AYE (vi) and EEE TEE CEE (et-cee).

                                        On the other hand, there's a pit in the inferno reserved for people who say JOT instead of JAY DOUBLE-U TEE.
