@liquor_american @davidaugust @trevorparker Filter is definitely AI redraw, it's slopping the original image, sadly. 😞 And end user would not know this without careful inspection. Just out of curiosity, which filter is it?

Edit: turns out it was AI, I messed up. Fooled and foolish. Sorry about that.

nope, again. It is a simple filter, no AI:

The lighting on the stock image lends to the geometry of the scissors becoming less distinct without much manipulation. The filter is a simple "etching" filter. The source image set ups the reality of the spacial reality of the scissors becoming vague and unclear/artificial seeming.

@liquor_american @sundogplanets @davidaugust @unlambda Yeah, looking at the original vs. the "filtered", it's sloppified. Unfortunate, and I know David did not do it deliberately... So easy for this to happen nowadays.

it is not sloppified. I did not do so. Period.

It is an anomaly of the universe that human vision and cameras can easily encounter reality that does not seem real.

It is almost a visual version of a Tiffany-like problem: real does not always seem real ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiffany_problem ).

@liquor_american @davidaugust @trevorparker Yeah, this is AI restyling for sure... it's not traditional filtering , it's generative AI. You can take any photo from the web and "Copy art style" and it will regenerate your photo in that art style... i.e. Manga, etc.

@davidaugust @liquor_american @sundogplanets @unlambda I appreciate you and respect you, but I have to very much disagree... that tool is a Generative AI tool. The entire tool is AI, and all their graphics tools are generative AI, as well. It's very hard for many users to see that's what's happening under the cover 😞

@davidaugust @liquor_american @ai6yr @trevorparker How do you think style matching filters work?

                  They are generative AI.

@sundogplanets @davidaugust @unlambda I suspect the "filter" you used is actually AI, as well. Which is typical nowadays. It's been asked to redraw the original image in a different style, and it's not "filtering", it's AI slopping it.

It's not just Canva. I do work for a bunch of different companies and there's a ton of AI shit built into their systems now. I just ripped one out that used a google document AI tool to get the text out of a PDF. I replaced it with a simple script. I admit, I then left the AI summary crap there, but at least 99% of the AI work was removed.

                              It's everywhere. Hard Coded in.

I try to keep it extremely limited, warning them that this shit is going to be 100x more expensive the moment a "winner" is picked from all these AI companies, but they love getting results ASAP..... even if they're wrong. 🀷

now I know, so embarrassed I didn't fully get it before. Gonna have to purge my data from their systems.

                                Thank you.

David, I believe you would never mean to do it but this is AI art.

@davidaugust @liquor_american @ai6yr @trevorparker How do you think style matching filters work?

                                    They are generative AI.

I still almost can't believe I've done this. Le sigh.

Yeah... the depth I, clearly, didn't fully internalize the reality of.

I am learning, the hard way, one needs to (by one I mean I) scrutinize further and protect one's projects from the collapse and when a "winner" is picked to try to avoid future maintenance issues.
