What if a Fediverse platform for #ttrpg gaming?
Like not just oh here's our instance of this thing where ttrpg is the topic
But like built from the ground up to support groups, schedules, campaigns, notes and character sheets. Open source and extensible, tie into VTT platforms?
Bots for encounters, npc generators, or rolltables that you can add to the campaign and ping on demand...
Use SRD for popular game systems or just free form, get users out from the platform lock in of things like DDB
Yeah. That'd be cool I think

@action_jay I found ActivityPub confusing because there's a bunch of parts/protocols that are required, but not part of the spec.
That being said, all of its defined object and activity types would support this type of software.

@action_jay I wonder if this is something Bonfire would do well. Their whole thing is meeting the needs of really specific groups like that.

I like your idea, but you should have a look at this:
Not Fediverse, but free, self-hosted (without a server) and open-source / copyleft:
I can't believe this VTT is not more widely known. If anybody wants to seriously think about a comprehensive RPG solution it should start here, not with any of the for-money subscription models.
The only hurdle is that you need to establish one or two port-forwarding rules for the host.
I have had my data stolen from Roll20 and gladly I never paid for it or I probably would have lost real money. This is way better.

@action_jay that's something I'm asking myself.
I use [kanka](https://kanka.io/) for my worldbuilding stuff because it's self-hostable.
I planned to move everything to [otterwiki](https://otterwiki.com/) one day maybe...For the virtual tabletop stuff.. I found [mythic table](https://gitlab.com/mythicteam/mythictable/). #FoundryVTT is self-hostable but not #opensource.
