I want Congress to address the breakdown in antitrust enforcement at the Department of Justice.

Attorney General Bondi dismissed Gale Slater, head of the DOJ's Antitrust Division. Ms. Slater was scrutinizing the proposed merger of Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Juniper Networks over concerns it would harm competition in cloud computing and wireless networking. Her opposition to the merger appears to have contributed to her firing.

The handling of the LiveNation/Ticketmaster antitrust case raises further concerns. After a jury trial opened last week on allegations that the company has unlawfully monopolized the live events industry, the DOJ announced a surprise settlement on Monday without notifying the nearly 40 state co-plaintiffs, without giving its own lead attorney advance notice of the terms, and without informing the presiding judge that a settlement was forthcoming until the night before. This would be the company's third consent decree since 2010, which raises serious questions about whether settlements are an effective remedy.

I want you to hold hearings on political interference in DOJ antitrust enforcement.

I want the Antitrust Division to have the independence and resources it needs to fulfill its mandate.

We deserves a DOJ that works for the public interest, not just the president and corporate interests.
