Senstor Warnock: [video clip from Weds]

"The same tools used during Jim Crow, packing and cracking Black voting districts, are back, and now the Court said that’s fine… This is an effort by politicians to choose who their voters are instead of having voters choose their politicians."

"Tennessee Republicans pass new 9-0 gerrymander after SCOTUS destruction of Voting Rights Act eliminating state’s only majority-Black district & last Democratic seat. Splits Memphis, which is 63% Black, into 3 districts to disenfranchise Black voters. Quite literally a return to Jim Crow."

Black people just lost all of their remaining political power in the South. This is a monumental moment in American history that simply isn't being treated as such."

"there's simply no adequate political response to this that isn't based on fully destroying the people and party responsible for it.

that's not ultraleft or fringe to say anymore. we can have a livable country or we can have a country with the Republican Party in it. everyone knows this now, from the most edgy leftist poster to a mainstream liberal. the opposition party can either offer that clearly and loudly, or they can lose."

"In a loss for Democrats, the Virginia Supreme Court ruled the congressional map voters approved last month to counter GOP gerrymanders cannot go into effect.

The decision overturns the will of voters for technical reasons and gives Republicans a leg up for the 2026 midterms.

The decision marks a significant and terrifying moment in our democracy as the court allowed an election to be cancelled after its completion."

they're playing w/fire doing this right before democrats take control of a bunch of swing states, and the impact on house control will be relatively low; but republicans have a doctrinal opposition to black people having elected representation, so of course it must happen immediately."
