#OTD 6 May 1866, Andrew Lafayette "Fate" Allee married Martha Elizabeth Grant, his cousin, in Saline County, Arkansas. The area had been devastated during the Civil War, with battlefield debris littering the area. The couple, with extended family, moved to Texas after the birth of their eldest son. Martha bore two more children, dying sometime before her 30th birthday. Fate, my great-great-grandfather, remarried in 1876. His three children did not like their stepmother, a former schoolteacher.
