Frontier is putting fiber in around here, and I swear this describes their guys to a tee. Any time in the past few months I've heard someone local complain about an outage (be it internet or water), the answer to, "Oh, is Frontier working in your area?" has been, "Yes."

@EdCates @cjust @cR0w we had a six hour long Comcast outage last night. and these dudes had already started work in the area. However the outage did coincide with a massive thunderstorm that rolled through the area, so I'm not sure who was to blame, but six hours was the longest internet outage I've had here in years.

@da_667 @cjust @cR0w I kept repeating, "Turn around, don't drown!" to myself as I drove through there. Good test for the seals on the car doors, I guess.

@da_667 Fill some water jugs. Back when I was working field utility work, they would rip and tear through water and sewer lines. They decided it was cheaper to take a chance than to pothole each one and avoid them. I made so much money in OT one Summer fixing their shit.

Down under in the communist #Australia, we have a "Dial before you dig" phone line funded by the utilities. It's a phone line and a computer with GIS utility layers. We also have heavy fines for ripping utilities because we live in an oppressive communist dictatorship where people are not free.

This is probably way too backward for an advanced state like Naziland.

@EdCates @da_667 @cjust @cR0w On one hand it would be nice to not have overhead services from an aesthetic perspective. On the other hand, it's much harder for the telecoms people to royally fuck up water/gas lines when their shit is suspended in the air.

Friend of mine works for the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District and likes to recount the story of when AT&T struck one of their large pipes full of pressurized shit in the middle of a major intersection.

@cR0w @huronbikes @EdCates @da_667 @cjust I only caught this reply and thought this was a Star Wars game thread haha.

Even if it was suspended, some dipstick would probably try to screw or nail to it at some point.
