@rpsu What if we all stop moving the clock?

@rpsu what if I really like daylight savings day? I don't need sunlight at 5 in the morning. I want it in the evening though.

@ysbreker What is stopping us to keep the summer time zone with more light in the evening all around the year

@rpsu
It's the UK that's blocking change because they have a border in Ireland. We can't have two time zones in Ireland. -

@rpsu I was against daylight saving anyway, but nothing has made me more angry about it than working on a large, cross atlantic game dev project.
Because NA move the clocks three weeks earlier, any meeting series booked by an American moves- but European-booked meetings dont move till the end of March. Daylight saving went from a one day nuisance to a three week event of meeting clashes and frantic reorganisation.

@rpsu Why is daylight time bad?

@rpsu it used to match, but in the mid 2000s the US candy industry lobbied a date move so that it would be lighter for Halloween evenings. Canada moved to match but now there is this three week continental drift twice a year. So damn annoying.

@rpsu Why is daylight time bad?
@FrutigerAero00 It is not about what time is it related to the sun, but the fact that the whole society is forced to start getting up earlier. A fixed day to day sleeping routine is disturbed and while some people do not mind or aren’t affect, some people need the consistency more.
I’m one of those people and my kids as well.

I'm still so salty that it should've stopped in the EU in 2019, latest 2021, but the measure has just stalled since then. Even though most seem to agree it should end. Urgh

@rpsu I live in BC in Canada and right before we put the clocks forward a few weeks ago they announced that it was the last time we were doing it.
I wish they'd just left them alone entirely, but I'm glad we're done with this nonsense.

@cojajo @rpsu I know someone that had a burnout a few years ago. She just stopped moving the clock. It wasn't the only change she did in her life, she in general changed everything from leaving job and husband to moving town so I guess stopping with the insanity of daylight savings time wasn't such a big step any more

@rpsu A small inconvenience for you. For people living on the most west or most east point of the time zone it makes a huge difference.
The only really logical thing to do would be to shrink the CET.
Spain moves into the same time zone as POR or GB, Northmacedonia, Serbia, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland (?) are moving to the time zone of FIN and GR.
Before this didn´t happen talking about an abolition of the daylight saving time is pointless.

@electricfusionQ I disagree about the ”only logical”-part. It surely would be one option, even if highly unlikely to happen IMHO.

@electricfusionQ @rpsu I would argue it daylight saving time matters mostly for the western part of the EU, because for example Poland is almost perfectly aligned with the UTC+1
