Which are good organizations to work at for women in tech?

@Em0nM4stodon Evelyn & Bobbie. The founder, Bree, and I worked on a team together for about two years. Sheβs a good woman who lives on the path of gender equality. She developed a product for women that has been largely developed by men for far too long.

In the City of London, there's a group meet-up called "Women In Tech"
One older colleague used to mentor there.
She recommended it as an exercise in #solidarity

@Em0nM4stodon that's a good question I am not qualified to answer as a heterocisbinary dude *at all* so I boosted it.

@Em0nM4stodon I've been working in tech for almost 3 decades. I've seen a lot of s$#@, and would not recommend any company without reservations. It very much depends on both the company culture as well as the specific manager.
I've worked for companies with a great culture but then left due to a manager (not even my own, but in another department I had to work with) who was a sexist bully. I've worked with groups where I was treated fairly, but then a great manager left and I was suddenly treated very poorly.
I've worked in groups where I was the only woman, and in groups where there was only one man. I had hoped the latter would be like safety in numbers. The challenge there is that your whole group suffers from sexist interactions instead of just you individually. Sometimes being the only woman in your department can actually be protective, as your whole group is valued more highly.
I am very happy with the company and group I'm in now. I feel well supported by my management and the groups I interact with. I hope it stays that way, but I also know this industry turns on a dime.

Which are good organizations to work at for women in tech?

@Em0nM4stodon There's this website for tech jobs called Otta (although I think they changed their name) which shows the number of women employed as well as general statistics on companies diversity hire. Not that the info is necessarily reliable, but it's telling when you find companies that decide NOT to share such data.

@Em0nM4stodon @zino Which country are you in?
I work for Technology1, we have offices in Australia, UK, Bali, and India.
I think itβs lovely here but Iβm a cishet bloke. That said Iβd be very happy to pass your question on to some of my female colleagues if thatβd be useful.

@Em0nM4stodon this was posted 3 hours ago with no responses. I hope that is not a sign.

"People don't quit jobs, they quit bosses"
I heard that when I was going through a period with one of the worst bosses I ever had.

@w_b @Em0nM4stodon Bad bosses certainly are a good reason to leave. And there have been plenty of times I've quit jobs with wonderful bosses, but s@#&ty leadership. There are a remarkable number of points of failure in a corporate hierarchy.

Anybody above you is a boss. Only takes one to shit up the whole thing
