Did you learn anything from buying your electric car?
We plan to buy a cheap Leaf or something similar soon.@ohmu I bought a 2019 Tesla Model 3 six years ago.
* Great car to drive
* Never had any range anxiety, even on very long drives
* Rapid charges like it stole the electricity (15 minutes on average)
* Collision detection is a bit too sensitive (slowing down without any visible obstruction)
* Full Self Driving ... isn't...
* Social stigma due to the muskrat is too much for me to consider buying another one
* Fuel costs (in Norway) went from about 250 USD/month with my diesel BMW, to less than 50 USD now. I do almost all my charging at home, only using public charging when driving very long distances.I'd probably go for a VW iD7 estate, or a Polestar 2, if I were getting a new car today. I'd not consider a pre-facelift Leaf, but the newer models have decent range, and a bit of poke in the motor, so those are quite good. My neighbour drives one, and is very happy with it.

Their cost of entry is low, but a battery replacement within a few years is not out of the question. Also the older ones at least, still use CHADEMO which is a much harder plug format to find in the wild than CCS or NACS

We plan to buy a cheap Leaf or something similar soon.@ohmu I drive a '26 Subaru Solterra and really love it. It was pretty pricey though, and previous model year Solterras are pretty crap.
Edit: oh, and it's heavy for a car at 4,400 lbs, but I'm not sure how that stacks up against other EVs.

I’m not sure *Id* feel safe, especially at night. I mean, I’m getting a little anxious in a hatchback realizing that sometimes I just look like a gap between bigger vehicles.

We plan to buy a cheap Leaf or something similar soon.@ohmu we had a Chevy spark for a few years and loved it despite its limited range. But gm stopped manufacturing parts for it, so when it stopped working last year, they just shrugged and tried to sell me a new one.
Lesson: if you buy it used, make sure the manufacturer still makes the same car with the same parts and plans to continue doing so.

This is why I've been keeping an eye on the Slate Truck. (Sadly funded by Jeff Bezos.)
But we're planning to go test drive a Leaf sometime in the next couple of weeks.

Free charging largely doesn't exist, I think its down to luxury brands & VW Buzz.
There's going to be a LOT of leases coming off 2 year leases this year, 3 year leases next year of people that got EVs to take advantage of tax incentives before they went away & i've seen some really decent deals on low mileage cars coming off lease. -
