      I guess, my assumption "Every new homebrewer starts with an American Pale Ale and US-05 is the yeast of choice for that style, so every homebrewer has brewed with it at some point" is wrong 😅

              Yes, exactly. Always reliable, good flocculation, very neutral. Also good with dry hopping.

                The first part is probably quite accurate. It was my first brew, and it is still a favorite. I lager mine, so it's crisp and refreshing.
                I used White Labs WLP001, but that is now hard to get and expensive. I'll be trying US-05 for the next batch.

                  @dof Yeah, I re-visit it every time I get a good harvest of Cascade hop cones. Cascade-hopped Pale Ale is an absolute classic for a reason! 😍

                  I'm tempted to switch to Lallemand BRY-97 though. Fermentis really pissed me off when they changed the fermentation temperature range to 18-26°C for all ale yeasts 😡
