One of these things that makes me consider detecting the platform from my webserver and blocking it entirely because the probability of whatever I wrote becoming an LLM input is too high

I assumed they "went with Motorola" because they were the only ones to return their calls. It's not like there is a huge or vocal movement for de-Googled Android phones. It's still incredibly niche. I really hope the partnership with Motorola helps more people realize that such a thing is even possible.

Is that what you are talking about? How they support and use a lower level of "attestation" so that people who make Android apps won't feel compelled to force their apps to only be valid when "attested" via the official Google Play Store? That sounds like a good thing. It sounds like a necessary thing before some developers will even consider supporting GrapheneOS.

As for "#DeviceAttestation" it's their caving-in on #malware-like features for "#Banking" #Apps and other shite that demands absurd controls.
- The whole idea is bad because "Device Attestation" against #rooting will "succeed" on a Garbage Phone (running an outdated & insecure #Android version) from the "P.R." China (laced with #malware from the factory/exporter in the #Firmware) but "fail" on a #Fairphone6 with @e_mydata / #eOS running the latest supported version ...
It's the same shite as #StarForce, #SecuROM, #Denuvo and other #DRM, but worse!!!

Basically, unless you use Linux or BSD, you don't actually own a computer any more. -
@jrdepriest @kkarhan @mcc It's my current solution. The only thing I worry about is that Google controls AOSP. I don't know if Graphene could pivot from being a fork to being a full OS by themselves.

@Secret_Squirrel @jrdepriest @mcc they don't even try as they purposefully kneecapcthemselves with arbitrary reasons to bot support repairable devices, relying on security blackbox ICs for their ROMs.

Never tried myself, but apparently installing Linux on chromebooks is doable.
A real PITA, but doable.
Which makes ARM ones very nice bacpack computers : very light and with incredible battery life. -

My kid is requires to have a chromebook for school so we are teaching our children to accept big brother watching every move our children make, whether awake or asleep. -
