    It is bin day:
Pink - food and garden waste.
Brown - cans, bottles, and a plastic food tubs.

I am going to meet Sue at work in a bit. It is raining a lot this morning so I expect she will have gotten a bit damp walking in.

Later I hope to be able to get on with some plastering. I will need to tidy up the work area first, too many tools, screws, and bags of waste.
We'll see how it goes today.

      We have adulted!

We have an estate agent coming to value our house, tomorrow. 😬

I'd better clean it a bit, and remove any H&S hazards. Perhaps have a spare hard hat and high viz for him.

          @IcooIey
Yes, and so many friends have told us we need to make this first step, even though we are not ready to sell.

We are now hoping that it will give us a realistic ballpark figure to gauge what we can sell for at this time and condition, and how much work is worth our time and cost, as an investment, to raise the value significantly.

We might find no amount of work will make a significant difference in value, or that it will never be enough to get a small holding. In which case we'll end up staying and making the best of the house as it is.

Or knowing that we can never afford to be.

I am being hopeful, but holding that pessimistic view so that I can be pleasantly surprised.

I doubt we'd find that we can afford to sell up tomorrow, but we might have a good idea how much more work is worth doing on the house, and how much we still need to save up.
It might also give us a push to actively selling off Dad's old collections, rather than just giving it away to charity shops.

If we suddenly turn up in Wales declaring "We made it!" it probably means we bought a winning lottery ticket. That would be more likely. πŸ˜„

@Maker_of_Things @helenclayton Getting an idea of the value of the house will help you plan more accurately. It's not worth doing a lot of work on the house if it's not going to add value. Unless of course it will make your lives more comfortable right now.

Part of the problem is that our lives are comfortable, just not in very good repair, and limited to the rooms we've worked on. So we've lacked the impetus to get on and deal with the bits that need fixing, but don't actually get in the way of everyday life.

Yes, this has been a driving factor.

It could easily be the case that the house is worth the same derelict or tarted up as best we can, if it is sold to a landlord. It would be gutted out either way and our efforts would be wasted.

However, some things are worth us doing anyway, both for our own comfort, and also in case we are stuck here for the next 30 years!

@Maker_of_Things this morning I walked down the drive and thought "boo! Why didnt my green bin get emptied?" Then I thought "hang on a tick where are the other 6 green bins" and then "NOOOO!" I accidentally put s green bin out instead of the black bin because I waited until it was dark and couldn't tell the difference 🀦🏼

@Maker_of_Things @suearcher @Dewines @helenclayton Indeed. But I'm sure you'll find it is worth more than you imagine
