@jalefkowit yeah the nature of the thumbnail game is literally maximizing clickbait. the only job of the thumbnail is to get you to click, and the only thing remotely like a constraint on this incentive is that there is a penalty if the user immediately clicks away because the thumbnail is such a complete lie that the viewer feels tricked *and* the video itself is such trash that it's not even watching for a few minutes.

i.e.: they are never going to calm down, they are never going to log off.
