    @pluralistic As usual, the Germans hiding the lede: it's not just "birds", it's corvids, that means they won't just attack, they will have planned where, when, and how to attack, and will have taken your name.

    @Illuminatus @pluralistic What you need is some Aussie magpies! Not a corvid (somewhat related to the butcherbird), they've been witnessed teaming up to take down corvids...

    [Hey, what could go wrong importing agressive species with no local predators? ๐Ÿ˜› ]

      @FunkyBob @pluralistic TIL about the Aussie magpies <and> that Corvids are a subtaxon of Passeriformes.

        @Illuminatus @pluralistic That's what you get if you crowsource your translations.

          @Illuminatus

          It is probably a subtle nod to Alfred Hitchcock.

            @Illuminatus @pluralistic

            The English translation is sub-optimal.

            Google translates the German text more accurately as "WARNING! Danger from attacking crows."

            @johnlogic @Illuminatus @pluralistic
            GoTra is not reliable enough for translations into certain "complex" languages โ€‹โ€‹and often even when trying to better address the concept it seems that it remains stubborn in its incorrect version of the translation.

                    @pluralistic I hope Alfred Hitchcock would have been pleased that my next thought was about his 1960s film "The Birds" ๐Ÿ™‚

                        @crisl_at@mastodon.social @pluralistic@mamot.fr Early in January we were on a beach, eating focaccias, and a friend of mine was mugged by a pair of seagulls. The first one "tagged" him by flying noisily over his head; the second one dove from a building and stole the focaccia out of my friend's hands.
