It's like someone saying 1945 was the moment they realized Nazis shouldn't be supported, once Anne Frank was murdered. Symbolic? We specifically discussed why their accounts had no clear "exit statements" on Twitter/X. I now wonder how many more people had this conversation!

@claesdevreese Communication platforms that are operated with a focus on maximising profit and not caring on how toxic it is to people in doing so are REALLY not where political parties should be communicating I feel.

@claesdevreese Elon's thumb is so firmly on the scale when it comes to promoting the far right on X, the only meaningful way anyone to the left of Pinochet can really impact the discourse there to leave en masse in a very public way. Journalists, politicians, government bodies and media institutions that view themselves as apolitical need to follow suit as they lend undeserved credibility to a platform and people who would see them burm.

Otherwise the public record fragments faster than verification workflows can follow.

They all end like that, because the bargain is not fair or balanced: Right-wingers find their unity and identity signalling most potently through attacking left-wingers.
They don’t really agree on too much between themselves, so when the targets walk away there’s not much left to talk about, except maybe out-nazi each other, which just shifts the victims again.
