    We don't think any institution or state has the right to prevent families and friends from private chatting, physically or digitally. But the Cyber Authority China (CaC) seems to take offense:

    - they made Apple remove #deltachat iOS for mainland china

    - their great firewall appears to block some #chatmail relays

    - if you ask DeepSeek directly about Delta Chat, it doesn't want to talk

    It's pretty sad, really. Everybody on this planet needs, and has a human right to private communication.

    Can anyone reproduce this on open-weight DeepSeek models?

            @delta

            I'm not surprised. Actually, I'm surprised DC was ever in the Chinese App Store.

            As a matter of fact the reason I sold all my Apple devices and moved to FOSS was because they sold-out their principles to get into China for the cash.

            So, for the right price they'll sell YOU out too.

            But there are lots of 'resourceful' Chinese so DC will get around eventually.

            And, don't forget, thankfully Delta Chat works perfectly well over the TOR network and can be used as a Persistent App with TAILS OS.

            而且,别忘了,值得庆幸的是,Delta Chat 在 TOR 网络上运行良好,并且可以作为 TAILS OS 的持久应用程序使用。

            Has anyone managed to run DC on a TAILS install in Persistent mode? I have followed the 4 step guide from this forum, and the app runs OK, but returns a “connection refused: error OS 111” message when trying to establis…

                @sterpeto in one you said Delta Chat in the other DeltaChat (without space) it seems their filtering is blocking "Delta Chat" which is the official name listed everywhere, DeltaChat is wrong

                  @arcanechat I know I did it. I did a test on Qwen using the original prompt "Can you tell me about Delta Chat?" and it worked. I don't know what's wrong with deepseek.

                      China does this for every messaging app that attempts to shield user communications from prying eye. In Chinese app stores you can't find Signal, Element, Wire, or any other secure messaging app, either.
                      They even blocked access to F-Droid.

                        @delta No wonder. I live in China and have been using DC for several years. Since last week messages can't be sent. But on iOS
                        and Android can receive messages. On Android I also tried arcane chat. It sends and receives well. If only some relays are blocked. How can we find the DC relays we can use? Because iPhone is my daily carry.
