@delta Actually, WhatsApp offers the option to encrypt backups, and Apple offers the option to encrypt iCloud. However, not all users will take advantage of this, so its usefulness is limited.Personally, I hope that DC-iOS will one day get iCloud backup support. Provided it is not too complicated to implement. In my opinion, it makes more sense than before, since chatmail servers only temporarily store emails.

The last two weeks saw a dev gathering in the black forest from several in #chatmail, #deltachat and #webxdc communiities, also joined by @n0iroh and @rpgp folks. The tech demos and hacking results we presented to each other, were pretty mind blowing and tracing a path to very interesting futures, delivered in working code, not just some grand plan. Let us just say for now that we are getting to the fun parts of an age old http://testrun.org motto happy #equinox! May the tides turn!

Their deployment/configuration tooling is heavily dependent on Debian/systemd, so I re-implemented it with a self-contained Chef cookbookit's fully compatible and about 95% identical. @jae i love DC! but its not a replacement for discord's features except at the most basic level of "send message to a chat"
